Samantha Locock is a filmmaker specialising in an array of short forms including narrative, corporate, music promo and podcasts. She loves to produce work that tends to deal with what makes us human; fear, love, anxiety, sexuality, the search for acceptance and the general minutiae of life as a conscious being. Samantha is neurodivergent and has ME/CFS which gives her a different perspective to channel into this medium. It’s important for her that characters like her are shown on screen and are given opportunities behind the camera too.
Samantha has been developing her production slate of short films which champion queer, POC or female-led stories including SCRAPS (dir. Mohamed-Zain Dada), fully funded by the Art Fund and currently in its festival run, Rice Ball (dir. Kristina Pringle) produced as one of five films made as part of the BFI x BMW Filmmaking Challenge, that was mentored by Michaela Coel, which premiered at BFI London Film Festival and played at NYICFF, Dandies of Albertopolis (dir. Omar Kent), partly funded by UKAFF with support from British Council, and A Whispered Hope (dir. Katie Loughrin and Samantha Locock), which was nominated for Best Young Filmmaker at the BIFA qualifying Wimbledon International Short Film Festival 2022.
She is also currently in pre-production for SCOPE (dir. Emma Moffat), which is short listed for the Primetime Empower Fund.
